Licensing Law
In 2005 the Licensing Act 2003 came into force. Under the Act all public houses, restaurants, and nightclubs must have a Premises Licence in order to serve alcohol, offer entertainment or serve hot food after 11pm.
In addition, anyone authorising the sale of alcohol must hold a Personal Licence which requires specific training and qualifications from an accredited and government approved body. We have close links with providers of the National Certificate of Personal Licence and can arrange training for you and your staff.
Our specialist team can advise you on your roles and responsibilities and take you through each stage of the Premises and Personal Licensing process, in order to enable new activities, the expansion of existing licensed premises or the renewal of an existing licence.
If objections to your obtaining a Licence are raised we can represent you at full hearings before a Local Authority. We are also fully equipped to represent clients on the rare occasions when Licensing matters go to Court.
We are also able to offer comprehensive advice on all aspect of betting and gaming licences and guide you through the applications process.
